What to expect at our Newbury Park home Playschool.

A child wearing a pink apron with a butterfly and striped pattern is painting with watercolors on a table. There are small watercolor palettes with different colors and a paintbrush in the child's hand. The table is covered with paint splatters.
Children playing with soap bubbles outdoors in a park with lush green trees.

A gentle invitation for childhood curiosity to bloom.

At The Maker’s Garden, our days unfold naturally through creativity, connection, and play. The day begins in our classroom space where children move freely while collaborating with peers or engaging in parallel work.

Our indoor classroom includes community table for group projects, a loose parts center, a block area, a home life corner, a reading nook, and other areas to explore, connect, and create. We have a separate on-site atelier (or makers studio) where children work with light/shadows, clay, sensory materials, and a variety of child-accessible artistic media. When this is complete, we come together to share stories and to sing together movement, dance and wiggles are encouraged and expected. During circle time, we give children exposure to music as I believe it is a powerful tool for social/emotional learning, language acquisition, and early math and literacy skills. When we've finished meeting as a group, the children enjoy a snack and then head outdoors to play under the shade of our orange trees in the garden.

Outdoors children enjoy access to water play, a mud kitchen, construction truck demolition area, sand box, outdoor easels, building materials, nature exploration, gross motor and imaginative play.

We believe childhood should feel meaningful, connected, and full of curiosity.

Children's hands working on a rock craft project with markers, stickers, and paper on a wooden table, decorated with painted rocks and drawings.
Four children sitting on the ground, smiling and hugging each other, with their legs and shoes visible. One child has their hand around another's shoulder. The focus is on the children's happy faces and the different types of footwear.
